In the 1930s Doylestown had a "Private Hospital" (as opposed to the hospital on Belmont Avenue, I'm assuming) run by one George T. Hayman. Check it out (click either image for a larger view):
VARICOSE VEINS ULCERS & HERNIA successfully treated by injection method,
RECTAL DISEASES, hemorrhoids (Piles, bleeding, itching internal & external) fistula and fissures, treated by office methods.
TONSILS completely removed by congulation without loss of time or loss of blood.
COLONIC THERAPY including colonic irrigation.
COMPLETE PHYSICAL DIAGNOSIS with blood chemistry urinalysis, etc.
Consultation without charge or obligation.
Nurses in attendance.
Alas, the building at 153 E. State no longer exists, having been replaced by a parking lot.
