I found this brief in an Intelligencer from 1900 -- part of a larger article regarding liquor law violations.
The Intelligencer

"With regard to the Maennerchor Club, of Doylestown, which had also been the subject of investigation, the court stated that love of beer and fame had brough the organization to the verge of legal inquiry, and it would advise the members to weed out the smugglers and traders in beer and to also rid the club of seit (?) seeking politicians who were a disadvantage to it."
"Beer and fame." I love it. Also, it would make for some good knuckle tattoos. (Though I'd rather have this one:)
