Dr. Wilmer S. Trinkle, Bucks County Coroner, today said Pennsylvania State Police are still investigating the death of Mrs. Veronica Andrews, 43, who was found dead from stab wounds Aug. 30 in a field near her home in Upper Black Eddy.
Dr. Trinkle said the State Police are waiting for reports from Harrisburg before they are ready to close their investigation. Mrs. Andrews was found dead by Upper Black Eddy and Milford, NJ firemen, who were searching the fields after she was reported missing from her home by her family. Her body had three stab wounds, two in the neck and one in the abdomen. A World War II Japanese bayonet was lying about 25 feet from her body.
Members of her family, including her husband, Matthew, and three children, ranging in age from 15, 18 to 20 years, took lie detector tests that proved negative.
The State Police said that in about a week they will confer with Bucks County Detectives, Dr. Trinkle and the Bucks County District Attorney’s Office before making any formal statement concerning the solution of the case.
