Elsie Heaney of Ottsville visited recently with an entire bag of Upper Bucks ephemera for me to scan. I especially love this photo of the Erwinna Covered Bridge, taken around 1900.
The bridge, which spans Swamp Creek in Tinicum Township, is Bucks County’s shortest covered bridge, at only 56 feet long and 15 feet wide. While the National Register of Historic Places lists its construction year as 1871, county records say 1832. And just in case you were wondering, the signs posted on the bridge are advertising “Magic Yeast.”
