Skip Burcaw of Perkasie submitted this photo, taken in 1949 of him and three friends gearing up for some tobogganing in Furlong: (from left) Skip, Al Heston, Curt Clark and Mr. Schmidt (first name unknown). Skip writes: “In the background on the left is the Hosiery Mill built by my grandfather, G. Blechschmidt. The mill was built in 1930 and employed most of the Furlong residents. Also in the background is the gas station operated by the Turner Brothers.”
