This photo shows the covered bridge that once connected the towns of New Hope and Lambertville. Built in 1842 to replace the first bridge, which had stood since 1814, the wooden bridge you see here was in use until 1903, when, like its predecessor, it was destroyed in a flood.
The loss encouraged the replacement of the wooden bridge with a modern steel one, and in 1904 the current bridge’s steel truss superstructure was built.
