I had a wonderful morning talking with Lawrence Fell Handy, Sr., who was born in Doylestown in 1926. His father, Earl Dewitt Handy, was warden of the Bucks County Prison. Larry lived with his family on the prison grounds for about 12 years.
I took some photos and videos.
This one is a thimble social at the fairgrounds, about 1940.
I like this one. Back row, from left: Donald Harris, Larry Handy, Walt Sawyer, Jimmy Atkinson. In Front, from left: "a Harris," Buddy James, Jim (or Jack) Cotton, Charlie Rushton, Jack (or Jim) Cotton, "a Neff."
I wouldn't want to mess with those Cotton twins. They look like trouble.
I didn't have time to edit these, so, well, I hope you like wobbly videos of a sweet old man showing you his photo albums.
