A reader commented on my post about the Doan/ Doane gang "Over and Doane" and pointed me to this transcript of an episode of History Detectives! I've seen the show a handful of times (when I worked at the David Library of the American Revolution I learned that part of an episode had been filmed there as well) but I've never seen the one about the Doan rifle.

Useless fact: My middle name is Elyse, just like one of the "detectives." Gosh, what a fun job that must be. "Rayna Polsky ... History Detective!" I'd buy a new silly hat just for the occasion.
