Bucks County's Montessori Children’s Village

These postcards, with photos most likely taken around the 1940s, show The Montessori Children’s Village — a private school near Wycombe that operated from about 1916 through 1956. Founded by Anna Windle Paist, the school had its own post office, farm and dairy, and its own train station along the Reading Railroad.

Developed by Italian physician and educator Maria Montessori, the Montessori educational approach includes mixed age classrooms, student choice of activity, and uninterrupted blocks of work time.

    4. Anonymous - I too was at the school in 1947 until 1951. If you would give us your mother’s name I will look through our extensive photographic collection for her. I also have a card index of all the children dating from about 1950 which lists their parents’ names and addresses.
